Evolution Wireless is an independent New Zealand internet service provider. We sell fibre nationwide on the Chorus network, run our own wireless network across Tairāwhiti, Northern Hawke's Bay, and the eastern Bay of Plenty, and provide VoIP phone services for homes and businesses. We've been doing it since 2008 — and the phones still get answered in Gisborne.
It started as something the big telcos couldn't be bothered with: getting fast internet to the parts of Tairāwhiti and the East Coast that the rest of the industry had written off. Back then, "rural broadband" meant patchy dial-up or satellite. We figured wireless could do better — and we built our first towers at Waimata & Wainui to prove it. Eighteen years later, we've grown into a full-service ISP that ships fibre to addresses anywhere in NZ.
What hasn't changed is who we are. We're still independent, still run from Gisborne, still answering the phone with real people who live here. We still remember you when you call. Whether you're connecting in central Auckland or out the back of Tolaga Bay, you're getting the same team.
Fibre goes anywhere Chorus does. Wireless covers Tairāwhiti, Northern Hawke's Bay and the Eastern Bay of Plenty — from East Cape down through Gisborne to Wairoa and Mahia, and across the eastern Bay of Plenty. That's where we built our towers, that's where our heart is, and that's where if something goes wrong we know the road to your place.
No call centres, no overseas support, no waiting 40 minutes to talk to someone who can't actually help. You ring us, you get a Gisborne number, and the person who picks up can sort it.
Every wireless install is done by our team. We know the coverage, we know the terrain, and if your roof is funny we'll figure something out. For service-down emergencies during support hours, we're on the phone within an hour.
Addresses across Tairāwhiti, Northern Hawke's Bay, and the Eastern Bay of Plenty that come up "not available" with the big telcos can usually get sorted with us — wireless to a tower, repeaters across a hill, or a custom point-to-point if needed. We've done some weird ones.
What you see on the plans page is what you pay. No 12-month tie-ins, no introductory rates that double after six months, no hidden install fees if it's a standard job. Change plans whenever, leave whenever.
Our wireless network covers Tairāwhiti / Gisborne, Northern Hawke's Bay, and the eastern Bay of Plenty. We sell fibre nationwide wherever the Chorus fibre network is available — so if you're moving out of region but want to stay with us, that works too.
If wireless won't suit your situation, we'll tell you. If a cheaper plan would do, we'll point at it. We'd rather you stay with us five years on the right plan than two months on the wrong one.

The boring stuff — redundant uplinks, capacity upgrades, maintenance on the towers — is where most of our budget goes. It's why outages here are rare and short.
We're sponsoring local clubs & schools, hiring local techs, and putting money back into Tairāwhiti. Not because it's a marketing line — because we live here too.
We're a tight team based at our office on Reads Quay — a mix of network engineers, install techs, support staff, and a sales team who actually understand the products. Everyone wears more than one hat. The person who picks up your phone call might also be the one who sorts your fibre activation that afternoon.
